With proper care, the life of a jewelry item can last for years. To enjoy beautiful and valuable pieces of jewelry for as long as possible, here are some basic rules to follow:
Don't just leave your jewelry lying around, especially not in damp rooms such as bathrooms. Dust and (humid) air can also damage your jewelry.
It is best to keep your jewelry well padded and protected from light in a jewelry box, preferably in separate compartments so that it does not get scratched. Pearl jewelry, in particular, should be stored in a soft cloth or protected in a small cloth bag.
Soap, cream, and make-up residues can be removed from jewelry using an ultrasound machine. However, if you have ultrasound equipment, you should not fill them with sharp cleaning instruments. It is best to use water with some neutral detergent.
If you do not have an ultrasound device at hand, a simple water bath will also help. Soak your gold jewelry in a slightly warmed water bath with a splash of dish soap for a while. Then dry the jewelry with a soft cloth.
In the case of gemstone jewelry, you should avoid chemical cleaners or soaps entirely. It is sufficient to hold the jewelry under lukewarm running water and then carefully polish it dry with a soft cloth.
As with gemstone jewelry, the pearl jewelry should only be cleaned under clear water. You can polish the pearls with a soft cloth.
